Saturday, April 26 – FYC Spring Work Party

Sunday, May 18 – Commodore’s Sail Past & Reception 

  • The Big Sailing Season Opening Event
  • Due to the strong winds, sailors were unable to sail past the Commodore this year. Instead, they dressed themselves up in nautical flags and gear then did a “Walk Past” by Commodore Stacey at the Flag Pole
  • Following the Walk Past, members and guests  gathered outside Doug MacKenzie Hall then proceeded indoors to the Board of Directors receiving line where they were wished well on the upcoming season
  • A Tea Party Reception followed in Doug MacKenzie Hall

Saturday, May 24 & Sunday, May 25 – Open House

Thanks very much to all of the members of the public who came by for a visit over the weekend.  Kudos to the intrepid skippers who took visitors out for a sail in often very blustery conditions!  It was a fantastic event.

Saturday, June 21 & Sunday, June 22 – June Bug Regatta

Sunday Afternoon Fun Racing

Sunday afternoon fun racing is back!  Starting Sunday, July 13.

Bring out your family and friends.  Racing starts around 2:00pm with the possibility of a second race following the first, weather-permitting. Andy T will set the marks for the course and display them on the race hut.

Monday, July 14 – FYC Town Hall Meeting

  • All members are encouraged to attend to discuss current & upcoming events and items of concern around the Club
  • Bring a snack to share
  • 7:00 pm in Doug MacKenzie Hall

Tuesdays @ Noon – Tiny Boat Tuesdays 

  • So far, it’s fully-grown adults messing around on the lake in tiny boats….’nuff said!   (children are welcome if they can handle the silliness!)
  • You can try the 8′ Cape Cod Frosties at the Sailing School or bring your own tiny boat

Wednesday Night Informal Racing

FYC members hold informal racing around a marked course set by organizer Jens on Wednesday evenings throughout the sailing season. The course will be displayed on the race hut.

If the weather for Wednesday is not conducive for racing, the racing is moved to Thursday evening. Check the FYC Calendar above for current dates and start times.

Tuesday, July 22 – Golf, Burgers & Chips!

  • 12 holes at Dorchester GC
  • 4:00 pm
  • Golf $23 + tax, Burgers & Chips $18 + tax

Saturday, July 26 – Special Events Day!

Three events will take place at FYC this day:

  1.  POSTPONED!  Due to a forecast for possible storms starting around noon, this program will be moved to a later date to be Determined.  Program Summary:   A “Sailing for All” grant from Sail Canada funds this program where this year, Indigenous Youth from Atlohsa Family Healing Services will try sailing with our sailing school instructors for the day!
  2. 1030 am – The Sailing School building will be dedicated to late FYC member Hans Schaffner 
  3. 11:00 am – London-Fanshawe MPP Teresa Armstrong and other VIPs will take part in a ceremony recognizing an Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant which FYC received last year to repair part of the Main Dock, refreshments on the Main Dock (or in Doug MacKenzie Hall in case of Inclement Weather) and some Sailing for the visitors  following this second ceremony – weather permitting.

Saturday, September 6 – Commodore’s Pirate Fun Run & BBQ

Saturday, September 13 – Puddle Duck aka Plywood Boat Fun Regatta
